THE PETREL STATION TOUR REPORT

Had an excellent day out at The Petrel Station on our latest pelagic seabird tour out of Tutukaka (in northern New Zealand). A good 10-15 knot wind throughout the day provided great viewing of a variety of stunning seabirds.

Highlights of the tour were:

  • 1 White-headed Petrel

  • 1 Black-bellied Storm Petrel

  • 13 New Zealand Storm Petrels

  • Big workups ups of thousands of Buller’s Shearwaters, Fairy Prion, and gulls.

During the tour we saw 26 different seabird species, and nearly 10,000 seabirds in total! A fantastic day out.

If you’re interested in coming out to The Petrel Station then check out the upcoming tour dates and get in touch – it’s always a great day out.
