THE PETREL STATION TOUR REPORT
Had an EPIC day out at The Petrel Station on the latest pelagic seabird tour (offshore from Tutukaka, in northern New Zealand), with 7 of us venturing out via the Poor Knight Islands to the explore the trench area beyond. Wind and swell picked up in afternoon providing excellent viewing of a great diversity of seabirds.
Highlights of the tour were:
- 1 x Blue Petrel
- 1 x Thin-billed Prion
- 5 x Broad-billed Prion
- 15 x Antarctic Prion
- 1 x Soft-plumaged Petrel
- 1 x Arctic Tern
During the tour we saw 25 different seabird species, and nearly 4,000 stunning seabirds in total! A fantastic day out.
If you’re interested in coming out to The Petrel Station then check out the upcoming tour dates and get in touch – it’s always a great day out.
